Want to work with some cool animals?

Are you looking to gain experience working with a variety of exotic animals? Whether for future career goals or just because you love animals? Well, we could always use more hands on deck. Volunteers come over to our facility and help take care of the animals doing tasks such as water changes, feeding, cleaning, weighing, helping with general animal care things. At the end of any volunteering session we’ll train you how to handle one of our animals!

The real fun part of volunteering isn’t the changing waters or cleaning poop (albeit it is a very important part of animal care) but getting to handle the animals at shows. A majority of the public events that we do I’ll need more hands behind the table to help manage the critters and safely let the public interact with them. You’ve probably seen our volunteers working alongside Adam in their green staff shirts at libraries, fairs, expos, and more!

We have  been very fortunate to have a number of excellent volunteers and interns over the years. Some of our volunteers have gone on to work at zoological facilities, graduate school to become a vet, worked at state parks, and other great careers!

Volunteering does not have strict requirements, if you can come over even once a month to help out that’ll be more than enough. The more you come over to help out though, the more you get trained on how to handle the many different animals we have. You have to fully know what you’re doing before you can teach the public how to do it after all.

We accept volunteers beginning at 14 years of age, and until age 17 children are required to have a parent or guardian present when coming over to our facility.

Are you in college and looking for something more in-depth? We also accept interns! Interns will get more hands-on training and learn about the animals at a more rapid pace than traditional volunteers. If your college accepts credits for internships we’ll work with you on that as well!

Reach out for a volunteer application form and we’ll email it over to fill out!
